2005 Marques de Murrieta Reserva (Rioja)
2005 Marques de Murietta Reserva (Rioja)
Tar, Aniseed & cloves. Plenty of interest on nose. Dry, dusty tannins, but lacking up front fruit expression I was expecting. Needs to breath.
One hour in the decanter & opened a Castillo de Bayren Manchego. Found it... The saltiness in the Manchego highlighted the red fruit like a neon sign. Flavours danced around the mouth. Plush cherry fruit balanced with subtle acidity, creaminess & mixed spice.
Another hour later & WOW... Full fruitiness without being a bomb. Balanced & textured. Matches Manchego with clinical precision.
Sometimes I just need to be patient.......
Tasted 18th March 2012
14% Alc Vol
