2008 Castagna Sparkling Genesis
One of the most sexy, scintillating wines I have ever had. Think Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca. Classic & ravishing. Cool climate shiraz with an elegant hint of viognier. Glorious aroma profile. Smooth, satin blue & red fruit. Dry jubes with spices of anise, cloves, oregano & sage. Velvety, toasty bubbles.
The bottle is getting too close to the end far too quickly. This could arguably be the WOTY for me. Matched with double smoked ham off the bone with quinoa salad for Xmas lunch with distinction.
This is a very special occasion wine. I think I may have fallen in love again.
