2009 Adam's Rib The White (Castagna, Beechworth)
2009 Adam's Rib The White (Castagna, Beechworth)
Chardonnay/Viognier blend with 5% Roussanne. Golden straw yellow & glistening. Butter & generous oak found immediately on the nose. I love this in a chardy. Give me oak treatment rather than the ever popular metallic sterility.
Almond meal, raw cashews, cloves & orange blossom dance from the glass. There's honey dew melon, white peach & a splice of ginger. Lavender & violets round out a long & opulent finish that provides a feint whisper of creme brulee & iced tea. This wine improves almost exponentially as it approaches room temperature.
Matched smashingly with a French Comte cows milk cheese.
Tasted 12th January 2013
Alc 14% Vol.
