2011 Pirie South Pinot Noir (Tasmania)
2011 Pirie South Pinot Noir (Tasmania)
Sweet cherries, barnyard antics & gun smoke bouquet. Balanced red fruit, leather & tar up front in the mouth. Loads of complexity & enough character to breeze through to a well rounded, lingering aftertaste of truffles & wild mushrooms.
Let's be honest, a chardy might have worked better with the pan fried barramundi & lemon butter sauce with creamy mash. However the marriage of the pure spicy fruit & foraging delicacies with the firm succulent flesh of the barra was sublime. It was like watching Man vs Wild on Broadway. Masculine & rugged, yet smooth & sophisticated at the same time.
Tasted 21st May 2012
13% Alc Vol
