2011 Pizzini Gundagai Barbera
2011 Pizzini Gundagai Barbera
Generously earthy. Savoury and spicey. Nutmeg, white pepper, thyme & cloves. Sour cherries and other smackingly vibrant red fruits. Brambles and bracken. Crisp, crunchy acidity and surprisingly soft tannins.
Opens seductively after only one hour in the decanter. Another hour, more savoury and that smoldering campfire smokiness.
Very rich and extremely food friendly. Goes rather nicely with homemade vegie pie and even better with the chunk of Manchego later on.
Tasted 1st April 2013
13.8% Alc Vol
