2011 Oakridge Over The Shoulder Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
2011 Oakridge Over The Shoulder Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Surprisingly light in colour, almost rose. Touch of spice; anise, cumin and vanilla pod. Caramel and leather. Savoury notes and feint smoked meats. Raspberries, strawberries, cherries and plums.
As I write it's opening in the glass. Just needs time to breath. Hint of truffle and whole stem bunches. Very Beaujolais-esque.
A little disjointed at first, like a gangly teenager, but then look out. Voice breaks, shoulders broaden. Call me crazy, but it even darkens in colour in the glass, especially on the second night. Now I have taken notice.
Tasted 21st & 22nd March 2013
