2008 Pizzini Il Barone (King Valley)

2008 Pizzini Il Barone (King Valley)
This wine should come with a warning. MUST be consumed over at least two nights & well decanted. Blend of Cab Sauv, Shiraz, Nebbiolo & Sangiovese.
Day 1- Tasted with a Zanetti Pecorino Fioretto del Monte. Opens up with an amazing fruit profile. Cabernet cassis & brooding dark red fruits. Sangiovese roars through the middle with sour cherries, spices & saddlebag leather. Some nebbiolo nuances & tight brisk tannins. Tar & licorice with a sappy twang & vanilla bean.
Day 2- Masses of blue fruits & complex spices. Cumin, five spice, white pepper & dried oregano. Velvet, violets & rose petals. Matched beautifully with five spiced pork loin cutlets & roast veges.

Those who judge this wine too quickly fail to understand the sum of its parts. They miss out on the journey.

Tasted 24th & 25th September 2012
13.8% Alc Vol
