Of the 2012 wine journey, I still have a few hangers on in the cellar. This little tasty treat has been a true performer. Don't ask too much off it but for a "friends with pizzas" - likely a margarita style, this pairs very nicely and is a no brainer for your basket grab. On the nose it is a very straight forward Monte.. Dried fruit some lifted aromas of spice but nothing over the top... Rather it slides up to you in an unassuming way. On the palate this is where it really becomes so much more comfortable. A fine complexity but not overbearing. With food, it responds with an opening up of slight parcel of fruit but for my mind a hint of marshmallow.
As I said, a great companion for casual company.. Price guide- you'll pay from $14- $20. I think the guys at united cellars were moving some at the low price point end.. Great value and won't disappoint.
Keep tipple'n
